ME Law Professional Corporation (www.melaw.ca) is a litigation practice, based in the heart of Downtown, Toronto.
We specialize in the various areas of civil litigation, particularly, in the areas of real estate, estates and corporate/commercial litigation practices.

Therefore, we currently have an opening for an experienced law clerk / legal assistant / and/or paralegal to join our practice.
POSITION:
Legal Assistant/Law Clerk / Paralegal - 3+ year of experience required

MAIN DUTIES:
- Law clerk / legal assistant / Paralegal duties that involve, but not limited to the following: preparation and assistance to Lawyers in their preparation of legal materials, including motions, applications to Court(s), drafting Statements of Claims and Statement of Defences, preparing Briefs and Factums, filing materials with Courts and Opposing counsel, assisting with preparation of Affidavits and Affidavits of Documents, Undertakings, scheduling dates and conferences with Courts, organizing materials and files according to Company policies.
- Legal assistant scope of work would include: correspondence (emailing/phone calls/scheduling/etc) to various parties at the direction of Counsel. Organizing files and legal materials. Liaison with various parties related to the legal matter(s).
- Photocopying, faxing, binding of documents, scanning, etc; as well as keeping appropriate corresponding electronic files and records
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- In-Depth Knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure and Court of Justices Act, relevant legislation, practice briefs, ability to navigate through courts.
- Legal Clerk courses/certification (required)
- University Degree/College Diploma (required)
- Customer service experience
REQUIREMENTS:
- Passion for excellent service and communication skills
- Razor sharp time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (reading, writing and verbal)
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Email, Legal practice management software (an asset), typing skills
(Any previous experience with legal practice management software and other practice-based legal software would be an asset - please provide details in your response)
